The nose shows complex aromas of dark chocolate, prune and tobacco; the palate develops a sweet, ripe fruit theme, followed by notes of chocolate and spice. A blend of 79% Malbec, 15% Bonarda and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine undergoes an 18 month maturation in French oak barrels.
Carlos Pulenta, one of the great innovative minds of the Argentinian wine industry, built Bodega Vistalba in 2002. The winery was fashioned after the Bordeaux chateaux model, with the aim of creating sophisticated blends with incredible ageing potential. The winery is the only one permitted to use the name of the region, Vistalba - meaning 'view of the dawn' in Spanish - in its name. Vistalba lies at the edge of Mendoza and is notable for its mountainous terroir; it benefits from higher elevation than surrounding regions, with increased sunlight.
