Goyenechea Winery was founded in 1868 by the brothers Santiago and Narciso Goyenechea. These Spanish immigrants commenced their business activity in Argentina by establishing wine and spirits stores in Buenos Aires. Later on they purchased an estate and winery in Villa Atuel, to the south of the Mendoza Province. A few decades later, between 1930 and 1940, the Goyenechea and the Arizu families planted vines and developed the largest vineyard in the world.
Today, the winery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which includes stainless-steel tanks, cooling equipment, barrel room, storage room for bottle ageing -all in a temperature-controlled environment. Goyenechea Winery’s output, though smaller in volume in the past, is much more diversified and aimed at high quality production.
This super-premium Malbec represents the pinnacle of quality for Goyenechea and is made to honour the five generations of the family who have made wine in Mendoza. The wine spends one year in French oak barrique and two years in the cellar after bottling before it is released for sale. The result is a deep red colour with purple hues, complex and persistent aromas, with the fruit and spic typical of the variety, and smoky, vanilla and coffee notes from the French oak.
