Lanson is one of the oldest champagne houses founded in 1760 by Francois Delamotte, a magistrate from Reims. Not only is it one of the oldest houses, but it is also one of the biggest with cellars that stretch over 4 miles. This is a truly uplifting non-vintage Brut champagne, with an exceptional purity of fruit. For 250 years Lanson have chosen to avoid malolactic fermentation - a decision that ensures their champagne preserves a naturally crisp and fresh taste. Unlike many others Lanson also insist on at least three year's cellar ageing. As a result Lanson Black Label delivers delightful bouquets, creating a sensation of opulence yet lightness.
The Lanson Black Label is a champagne loved all over the world and is one of the best selling champagnes worldwide. It is created using three grape varieties; 35% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier and then aged for 3 years. An impressive range of 40 to 50 crus are blended together to form this champagne and they are all vivified separately, so the cellar master has an exceptional choice of aromas available to him, thus guaranteeing a consistent Lanson at all times.
Lanson Black Label Brut’s brilliant and clear colour is reminiscent of straw and has hints of amber in the light, characteristic of the Pinot Noir grape. There is a fine stream of persistent bubbles in the glass which enhance the flavours on the tongue. On the nose, the impression is one of vitality and scents of spring mixed with a touch of toast and honey. The palate consists of ripe fruit and citrus to create a sensation of fullness, fruitiness and lightness. A pleasant racy wine with a long and lingering taste.
