Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch has concentrated aromas of tropical, peach and lychee fruit with hints of honey that is all balanced by delicate French oak wood flavours. Ripe layers of tropical fruit, both combined with subtle wood give this wine a good length of fruit and creamy mouth feel, with an elegant acidity in the background. The fermentation process was started in stainless steel tanks; subsequently the juice was transferred halfway through fermentation into oak of which 20% was new barrels. Fermentation was completed in the barrels at a controlled temperature. Lees contact was given throughout the 7-month barrel maturation period. Hand-harvested premium grapes from some of the oldest vines on the estate are used to produce this rich Chenin with a gently tropical nose of honeysuckle and pineapple with fresh green apple and subtle oak.
